- Officially it is called Oakland Coliseum these days but to most Raider fans it will always be known as THE COLISEUM, Home Base for the Raider Nation. Hardly a thing of beauty, it is the only remaining multi-purpose stadium left to serve as a full-time home to both a Major League Baseball team (the Oakland Athletics) and a NFL team. Opened in 1966, the Coliseum underwent major renovations in 1995-96 with the addition "Mount Davis." And through it all the Raiders Nation have come in force, making the Oakland Coliseum one of the most feared venues in all of football (Black Hole anyone?).
